When & Where is Snow Machine Queenstown?

Snow Machine is taking place from September 5-10, 2023. The festival is located in the stunning Queenstown, the adventure capital of the world! We will once again have 4 en-piste stages for you to enjoy during the day, followed by our Main Arena event from Thursday-Saturday located in Queenstown’s city centre – only a short walk from town and most accomodation.

What does the festival entail?

Snow Machine Festival is four days and three nights of music, snow, après, adventure and so much memory making! Hit the fresh corduroy slopes each morning before making your way to one of our four après stages across Coronet Peak and The Remarkables. Enjoy tabletop dancing en-piste as the artists from our line up hit the DJ decks.

After that, make your way back down into town, and freshen up before heading to our Main Arena for a night of live music in full festival mode! But the night doesn’t stop there, some of Queenstown’s hottest bars and clubs will be hosting official after parties each night! Grab yourself a wristband and bounce between the venues for a dance before you head to bed, ready to do it all again the next day!

Throughout the week, we’ll also be hosting a number of additional events that you can grab a ticket to! Stay tuned to our socials as we announce these in the coming months..

Queenstown Information

How do I get to Queenstown?

There are direct flights from most Australian capital cities and all major domestic airports in New Zealand to Queenstown International Airport (ZQN).

What accommodation options are available in Queenstown?

Queenstown offers a range of properties to suit every budget and preference. We have a great selection of the best properties on our packages page.

Can I book rentals and lessons?

Yes, rentals and lessons will be available to pre-book via the Snow Machine Store shortly. We recommend pre-booking to avoid disappointment.

Do I need to carry chains?

If you plan to drive up the mountain you are required to carry chains with you at all times, you will only be asked to fit them when conditions require. Please note 4WD vehicles are still required to carry chains.

What else is there to do in Queenstown other than ski?

Queenstown is known as the adventure capital of the world so the activity options are endless. From adrenaline pumping skydiving and bungy jumping to more relaxed winery tours, scenic flights and health spas. Activities will be available on the Snow Machine Store soon.

Do I need to be double vaccinated to attend?

Snow Machine will follow the New Zealand government’s COVID-19 protection framework required for events.

How do I get from the airport to my accommodation??

Queenstown airport is a only 15 min drive from the city centre and there are many options to get there.

  • Return airport shuttles
  • Book Car hire through the Snow Machine team
  • Jump on the local bus into town
  • Jump in a taxi, we recommend Queenstown Taxis or Green Cabs
Where can I ski/snowboard?

Queenstown is home to two world class ski resorts, The Remarkables and Coronet Peak. They are both well suited to all levels and abilities.

Both ski resorts are a short drive from the city centre – we highly recommend jumping on a bus or carpooling as the car parks can get very busy!

How do I get to the ski resorts?

You will need to pre-book transfers to get to and from the mountain each day. These will be available to book on the Snow Machine store shortly. For those who have hired a car you can drive yourself up the mountain each day, the resorts offer free parking. 

Please note: The car parks fill up fast! So we recommend getting there as early as possible. If you end up parking further down the mountain, they offer shuttle buses to get you from the car park to the base station.

How do I get around town?

Most accommodation is within walking distance to the town centre, however if your property is a further out of town there is a great public transport system and plenty of taxis available.

Do I need a passport to travel to New Zealand?

If you are travelling from outside of New Zealand, yes. Queenstown is an international location and you will require a valid passport for travel. If you are not travelling on an Australian passport, make sure you have the correct visa.

What are the requirements if I am travelling from Australia?

You must follow all current New Zealand entry requirements as well as any new requirements which may come into effect prior to arrival, including vaccination and testing requirements. You can check and follow all departure and re-entry requirements for New Zealand and Australia here.

How do I get to Queenstown?

Package Information

What is included in the packages?

This year, we have the option to select between either 5 night or 7 night packages.

5 night packages include: 5 nights accommodation at your choice of lodging (5th – 10th September), 5 day lift passes for Coronet Peak and The Remarkables (for the price of 4) and entry to Snow Machine main arena and après events.

7 night packages include: 7 nights accommodation at your choice of lodging (4th-11th September), 5 day lift passes for Coronet Peak and The Remarkables (for the price of 4) and entry to Snow Machine main arena and après events.

Where can I purchase a package?

Packages are available to purchase on the packages page of the Snow Machine website now.

Can I amend the packages to suit my needs?

All packages have been set as 5 or 7 night packages and cannot be shortened.  However you can request additional nights via the Snow Machine team once you receive your itinerary.

What payment methods are accepted?

Initial deposit can be paid with all major credit/debit cards via the website, a ticketing fee will be applied. Following instalments can be paid with credit card or bank transfer.

Can I book a package for someone else?

Yes, you can book for a group of friends online, you will need to make payment in one transaction and have your friends names and emails ready.

Can I stay in the same dorm room as my friend?

To guarantee your booking in the same room, you will need to book your packages in the one transaction. If your friend decides to join at a later stage we will do our best to accommodate your request but we can not guarantee it.

When will I receive my confirmation and itinerary?

A confirmation from our ticketing partners will be sent as soon as you make the booking, you will then receive an itinerary from us within 4 weeks.

Is breakfast included in the packages?

Breakfast is included in SOME packages, it will be clearly stated on the packages page. If it is not included it can be added for an additional cost at most properties.

Where can I view the package options?

You can view our packages on the packages page of the Snow Machine website.

How much is the deposit?

A deposit of $300pp is due on confirmation of your booking. A second instalment of $300pp is payable on Friday 31st March 2023 and final payment is due on Friday 30th June 2023.

Are the packages refundable?

Packages are non refundable once purchased. Please check the Terms & Conditions for the full refund policy.

Can I book a twin room for one person?

Not unless you want to pay twice the price. We have allocated certain properties with single packages allowing you your own room and package for one.

Can I transfer the package to someone else's name?

Yes, if you can no longer attend you are welcome to transfer your package to someone else, there is a $50 admin fee. All name change requests must be made no later than 40 days prior to the festival. Any deposits made will be transferred to the new person so you will have to sort finances yourselves. You will need to advise the Snow Machine team in writing and change the name on the ticket.

Do I need travel insurance?

We strongly recommend you take out travel insurance at the time of purchasing your package or ticket, to cover you for unforeseen events that arise prior to travel. For an online quote or further details click here.

If you’re planning on skiing or snowboarding, please ensure you select Snow Cover and read the PSD to make sure it is right for you.

What is included in the packages?

Can I buy a festival only ticket?

Limited festival only tickets will be released via the Snow Machine website on Wednesday 18th January.

Where do I get my festival wristband?

You will exchange your electronic ticket for a festival wristband when you arrive in Queenstown, we will provide more information closer to the date.

Is there parking available at the festival?

There is free parking available at Coronet Peak and The Remarkables. There is no offical parking available at the main stage, however street parking is available in surrounding areas.

Can I bring my own alcohol to the event?

No, all venues are fully licensed so you are not permitted to bring your own alcohol to the event. Bag searches will be conducted before entering the event and any alcohol will be confiscated.

Will there be first aid onsite?

Yes, there will be first aid on hand at all events.

When will set times be released?

The timetable will be released in the week leading up to the event.

What forms of ID will be accepted?

You will need to bring a valid photo ID to be permitted into the festival. The following forms of ID will be accepted;

  • Current New Zealand Drivers License
  • Current passport (for Australian and international attendees)
Can I buy a ticket for only one day of the festival?

No, tickets are valid for the full festival dates and will not be sold for individual days.

Where will the festival be located?

From Wednesday to Sunday, you’ll find 2 après stages pumping at both Coronet Peak and The Remarkables during the day.

At each mountain, there is one stage located at the base station of the mountain, and the other is located en-piste (accessible only by skiing/boarding in and out).

At night (Thursday – Saturday), the Main Arena will be located in Queenstown, walking distance from town and most accomodation.

Will there be food and drink to purchase?

Yes, there will be a range of food and beverage options available at all events, including vegetarian and vegan options.

Can I pay with credit card at the events?

Yes, card is accepted at all events. Après and the Main Arena will be cashless. Please be sure to bring your credit/debit cards or make sure your phone is fully charged if you’re planning to use Apple Pay or Google Pay.

What is the age limit for entry?

You must be 18+ to attend the main stage event, make sure you bring valid ID.

ID will be checked upon entry EVERY night.

Can I resell my ticket?

A Snow Machine resale facility will be available for tickets and packages only once the event has sold out. Resale will be available through the Snow Machine office and will incur an admin fee of $50pp. Sellers will only be refunded once your ticket or package has been resold. Snow Machine does not guarantee your ticket will be re-sold. We encourage you to use our official resell facility to avoid scams.
